5K Run To Remember

5K and Kids Fun Run Sunday at Sunken Meadow to benefit people with cancer.

This Sunday, November 20th, we will be holding our second annual "Run to Remember" at Sunken Meadow State Park to benefit Strength for Life.

Our inaugural 5K run attracted 520 registrants and was preceded by the Donal Hughes 1/2 Mile “Fun Run”, with more than 60 children participating. Proceeds go directly into the programs  strength for life offers free of charge to cancer patients.

Founded In 2007 in memory of Evelyn Knapp, who lost her battle with breast cancer at 40 years old. As an exercise physiologist Evelyn knew the benefits of exercise and personally experienced how it helped during treatment. We became certified cancer exercise specialists hoping to share the information and empower cancer patients/survivors to feel their absolute best and regain their "Strength For Life."

In 2011 we added three new locations to hold our exercise classes to make it as accessible as possible for many to attend.  In addition to the Stony Brook Cancer Center and Body in Balance in Hauppauge, we have had classes at Mather Hospital, STARS Rehabilitation, East Meadow and South Bay Physical Therapy in Copiague.
