Volunteer Efforts Help Spruce Up Local Park

Local volunteers come out and clean up Nissequogue River State Park.

The damp weather didn't hold back any of the nearly 60 volunteers who turned out to clean up Nissequogue River State Park on Sunday.

Folks from St. James, Huntington and Nesconset donned sweatshirts and gloves and removed trash and debris from the park.

The park, which is part of the former grounds of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center is scheduled to undergo a much larger make over in May structures will be removed from the property.
