Varsity Scoreboard: Taylor Breaks Suffolk Strikeout Record

Softball clinches 1st place, baseball qualifies for playoffs.

Softball: Lindsay Taylor struck out her 1,097th batter of her illustrious career on Monday in a 12-0 victory over Huntington, making her the all-time strikeout leader in Suffolk County. Taylor struck out 15 in the game, just another day at the office for her, as Kings Park clinched first place in League V.

Baseball: The Kingsmen found a way into the playoffs by taking two of three dramatic games against Hauppauge this week. After taking the opener 4-2 on Monday behind a complete game by Joe Guercio, they fell just short of rallying from 10-2 down on Tuesday, losing 11-10.

The split in the first two set up a do-or-die situation in the regular season finale. Trailing again heading into their final at-bat, the Kingsmen rallied for a pair of runs on a single by Joey Lynn for a walk-off victory to nudge them past the 10-win minimum needed to qualify for the Section XI playoffs.

Girls Lacrosse: The girls lacrosse team suffered a similar fate, losing 13-3 to Shoreham-Wading River on Monday to close out their season. They finished 4-10 in League II and 4-12 overall.
