Varsity Scoreboard: Baseball, Softball Off To Impressive Starts

Walk-off win puts baseball atop League V, Boys Lacrosse wins in OT

Baseball: Shane O'Leary's two-out single in the bottom of the eighth plated Joe Lynn, as the Kingsmen walked off with a wild 10-9 victory over Deer Park. The victory places them above Deer Park and Harborfields for the top spot in League V with a 5-1 record, 4-1 in League V. Nick Venier clubbed his second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth inning which gave Kings Park a short-lived 9-6 advantage.

Softball: Lindsay Taylor continued her domination of League V, throwing two more shutouts this week. After scoring the only run in a 1-0 victory over Eastport-South Manor on Monday, she followed that up with an 11-strikeout performance in a 2-0 victory Thursday at Sayville. The Lady Kingsmen currently sit one game behind Deer Park at 6-1, 5-1 in League V.

Boys lacrosse: The Kingsmen continued their ascension up the League II standings with a dramatic overtime victory over East Hampton on Wednesday. Luke Tuscano took Sean Brady's pass and found the back of the net, to give Kings Park (3-3, 3-1 in League II) a much-needed victory.

Girls lacrosse: The girls lacrosse team fell twice this week to a pair of teams in the middle of the League II playoff race. After losing 11-5 to Eastport-South Manor on Monday, a game in which they were outscored 6-1 in the second half, they lost 15-8 to Huntington on Thursday afternoon. They currently sit at 1-3 in League II, and have lots of work to do if they're to qualify for the playoffs.

Boys Golf:  The Kings Park Boys Golf Team beat Miller Place last week, 8–1. Frank Amicizia shot a 1- under par 35 to win his match.  This is the first sub par round in league play for Kings Park in 7 years.  Also winning for Kings Park were Steve Wibben, Joe Orlando, Corey Birkel, and James Lombardo.  For James, it was his first Varsity win of his career.  The team’s record is now 4 and 0.
