Teacher Honored for Math and Technology Instruction

Math teacher at William T. Rogers recognized for integrating technology into his math teachings.

The Association of Suffolk Supervisors of Educational Technology recently honored Ken Jansson, a teacher at William T. Rogers Middle School in Kings Park, for his integration of technology into his mathematics instruction. 

According to Debbie Ford, Director of Technology, Jansson, who has worked in the district since 1997, was one of the first in the school to use smart board technology in the classroom. He has also embraced the Parent Portal, an online communication tool, to keep parent’s up to date on how their child is progressing in the classroom.

"He is viewed as a teacher leader by his colleagues and openly shares his expertise with other staff members," said Ford

In the past three years, three Kings Park teachers have been recognized. Four Kings Park seniors were granted scholarships receiving a total of  $8,000 and four ipads.
