Residents Rock the Bonfire Barbecue

Celebration's proceeds to benefit bone marrow registry drive in honor of local 9/11 responder.

This year's pre-homecoming bonfire barbecue at Kings Park High School drew a sizeable crowd for an afternoon of socializing, kids' games and a variety of fundraising activities.

The Parent Faculty Organization will be donating proceeds to offset the costs of a bone marrow registry drive being held at the school by New York Blood Services on November 4 from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. Kings Park parent John Ferreyra deejayed the event to raise awareness for the drive.

The former Manhattan Traffic Task Force officer was a first responder on 9/11 and spent two months afterward working in and around Ground Zero. He is battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma and needs to find a matching donor so he can receive a bone marrow transplant.
