Kings Park High School been ranked in Newsweek's America's Best High Schools in 2012.
Ranking the top 1,000 high schools in the nation, Kings Park came in at 652.
Schools are ranked as the ones "that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads." Six components provided by school administrators make up the rankings: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student(5 percent).
Kings Park's graduation rate was 97 percent, 95 percent of graduates were college bound, AP/IB test averages were 0.5, average ACT scores 23.5 and average SAT scores came in at 1588 to earn a Newsweek rating of 0.36.
Neighboring Commack School District earned a rank of 267, Smithtown East received a 704 and Smithtown West ranked 329. Kings Park was unranked in the recent rankings by U.S News.
