Volunteers are needed for the 27th Annual New York State Beach Cleanup happening on Sept. 22 at
The cleanup is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, a worldwide effort, in which over 100 countries participate.
Anyone wishing to volunteer should call the park at (631) 269-4333. Participants will receive a certificate for their efforts.
We returned July 5th thinking it might be better without the unruly crowd but discovered the parking lots, beach and even at the water's edge covered with dirty diapers, broken beer bottles, water bottles and tons of litter and filth everywhere. Then there were many workers dealing with thousands of bags of trash in the parking lots and teens attempting to, but couldn't, clean up insurmountable trash on the beach and by the water's edge. I emailed Senator Flanagan describing the lack of public safety officials to ticket offenders and to control what was a disaster and my email was forwarded to NYS Parks and Recreation! So...no, I won't volunteer!!!
