The Suffolk County Patrolmen's Benevolent Association has called upon the District Attorney's office to investigate an intelligence leak that allowed members of the media to have access to identifying information about a robbery suspect yet to be apprehended at the time.

In a press conference held at Suffolk County Police Headquarters in Yaphank, PBA President Noel DiGeralomo said he spoke to the DA's office and that the DA has agreed to move forward with the probe.

At issue, according to DiGeralomo is an intelligence document used internally during an investigation that got into the hands of reporters- a document that spelled out an armed robbery suspect's home address and place of business, among other identifiers before police could capture him. Subsequently the suspect, 29-year-old Christopher Marino and his 23-year-old girlfriend, Jamie Greco, both of Medford, were taken into custody.

The PBA argued that the leaked intelligence put both police officers and the public at risk.

Patch will have more on this story as it develops.

Feigning "public safety" the PBA would like to "out" the rats among them.
