Good Samaritan Hampers Laundry Fire

Dryer fire quickly doused thanks to quick action by customer.

Quick action on behalf of a patron at a laundromat on Main Street in Kings Park helped to douse a fire.

According to Kings Park Fire Chief Mark O'Brien, smoke began to accumulate at Executive Tailors and Cleaners at 145 Main Street due to a fire in a dryer. Employees at the facility said that a customer, along with others, took quick action to snuff the fire as well as preventing smoke damage by opening doors to provide ventilation.

O'Brien said the Kings Park Fire Department responded and that the laundromat was re-opened within thirty minutes of the incident.

Employees there said they know the good samaritan by face, but not name and would like to thank him.

This was the second laundromat fire on Main Street in the past two months. The Quick Clean Laundromat suffered a fire in April that forced them to close for almost two months.
