Update: Fire Guts Commack Home

Kings Park, Commack Fire Departments respond, cause not yet known.

Update: Sixty firefighters battled Saturday night’s blaze at a one-story ranch in Commack for nearly two-and-a-half hours at approximately 7:38 p.m. in bone-chilling cold weather. Residents of the home were not there at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, however two pet dogs perished in the fire.

The origin of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation by the Town of Smithtown Fire Marshal.

Commack Fire Chief Kieran Keane praised the fire fighters for doing a great job in battling the blaze under the brutally cold temperatures.

Fire gutted a house at 6 Pittoni Drive in Commack on Saturday evening. Commack and Kings Park Fire Departments responded to the fire, which occurred at approximately 7:30pm. Dix Hills Fire Department was on alert and standing by.

Preliminary information indicated that the fire started in the kitchen and had spread to the basement but has not yet been confirmed.

Commack Fire Chief Kieran Keane was on the scene but was not able to comment yet on the details of the fire.
