Afternoon Fire On Main Street Shuts Traffic Down in Both Directions

Fire breaks out on second floor at 7A Main Street.

A fire broke out on the second floor of a building at 7A Main Street above the Mini Mart in Kings Park at approximately 11:20 a.m. Friday afternoon. Traffic was shut down in both directions from Church Street to Henry Street as firefighters from Kings Park and surrounding departments extinguished the blaze.

Surrounding buildings were evacuated including Bagel King and the Euro Barber Salon.

Several area fire departments responded to the incident including Smithtown, Northport, Commack and Hauppauge. The fire was extinguished at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Fire officials also closed eastbound traffic on Main Street starting at the entrance of the Nissequogue River State Park. All roads were reopened at 1:00 p.m.

It appears there were no injuries due to the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
