Afternoon Fire Breaks Out at Orchid Drive Home

Fire believed to have started in the basement.

A small fire broke out at a home on Orchid Drive in Kings Park Tuesday afternoon.

According to the renter of the home, Jim Caretsky, the fire started in the basement in an unused oven. Caretsky’s daughter Jenna, who was home with her brother Joey, heard a pop, noticed fire and called her mother who then told them all to evacuate.

Caretsky, who was at work in Melville at the time of the fire, received a call from his wife notifying him of the fire.
