Musical Moments Spotlight: Glenn Baldwin and Friends of Jazz

Catch the band as they perform standards from Cole Porter to Thelonius Monk.

 

Jazz it up Friday night with Glenn Baldwin and Friends of Jazz as they take the stage for the Musical Moments concert series at  Russ Savatt Park on Main Street.

According to Carole Kelly, an organizer for the series,  Friends of Jazz, headed by Glenn Baldwin, is a collection of local musicians from various walks of life performing a variety of standards from Cole Porter to Thelonius Monk.

In a statement, Kelly said "Friends of Jazz has performed well-received concerts on Long Island from Mattituck to Manhattan over the past decade, including one for Musical Moments in Kings Park 2011."        

Members of the band are Glenn Baldwin, leader and piano; Sandra Lynne, alto sax; Rich Bonzer, tenor sax; Linda Catania, vocals; Fred Novomestky, bass; Phil Silberman, drums; Steve Witthoft, trombone; Peter Kaufmann, trumpet, and Tom Pandel, guitar.

This free, outdoor concert, is presented by Musical Moments in Kings Park with sponsorship from the Kings Park Civic Association, the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and the local business community. Plycon Van Lines is the featured sponsor for the concert. This outdoor event is held, weather permitting; please bring seating.
