Tree Lighting Full of Holiday Spirit in Veterans Plaza

Santa Claus pays a visit to hand out candy canes.

Hot cocoa kept off the cold as holiday carols rang through the air, as all Kings Park children waited anxiously to see when Santa Claus would arrive.

Kings Park Chamber of Commerce held its annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at Veterans Plaza on Saturday afternoon. Despite the chilly weather, hundreds showed up to celebrate the local kickoff of the holiday season.

Group 28 from William T. Rogers Middle School entertained the crowd by playing a variety of holiday carols, encouraging those gathered to sing-a-long in the holiday spirit.

After a quick blessing and a count down, the Christmas tree was lit in Kings Park's Veterans Plaza.

Children eagerly lined up to see Santa Claus arrive with escort from Kings Park Fire Department, handing out candy canes and offering high fives to all those young at heart.
