Donate to a Local Food Drive this Thanksgiving

Here is a list of local food drives to donate to the less fortunate this holiday.

This Thanksgiving, most families across Smithtown will celebrate by sitting down to a large meal together - but not all.

For some less fortunate, Thanksgiving dinner is only made possible through community donations to a local food bank or food pantry.

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and showing graciousness for what one has, so here are some local food drives collecting to give to those less fortunate:

Smithtown Kickers 5K Turkey Trot is asking all participants and those stopping by to cheer on the races to bring canned foods to be donated to the Smithtown Food Bank to help replenish its shelves after Thanksgiving.

Our Daily Bread soup kitchen at St. James R.C. church in Setauket is collecting food donations. Those wishing to donate can drop items in the church basement and can leave a turkey in the freezer in basement

In support of Island Harvest’s annual Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign to help feed Long Islanders struggling with hunger during the holiday season, Lake Grove's Panera Bread is among the many Long Island locations accepting non-perishable food items and frozen turkey donations now through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Donation bins have been set up for boxed and canned foods; frozen turkeys can be donated at the counter.

Hauppauge Soccer Club Holiday Food DriveSat. from 10am till 4pm at Hauppauge High School. 631-948-0326. Soccer Clubs from all across Long Island join the Hauppauge Soccer Club for a day of friendly scrimmages and donations!
