It's been just over three weeks since we launched this site and many of you are still learning what we are about.  We have been busy this past few weeks but we thought we would take you on a tour of the site, via video tour that is. Kings Park Patch will be an invaluable news and information source for the entire area. We'll be here seven days a week to tell you what's going on. If you want to know what's happening at your child's school, or what to do this weekend, we're the place for you. Take a look at our welcome video.

Planning a dinner out with weekend guests? This is where you'll find everything to know about the restaurants, and any business for that matter, that are right in your backyard. We'll give you their addresses, phone numbers, hours of operation, maps to show you how to get there and helpful descriptions. You can also read and write reviews and upload additional photos of your favorite places.

EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Is your organization holding a fundraiser or looking for volunteers? Then let us know about it in our events and announcements sections. From government meetings to charity car washes, this is where you'll find out what's going on. You can also upload your own events for free. We also want to know the important things that are going on in your life. If you're getting married, won an award or honor, place it in our announcements section. You can place birth and death notices here as well.

NEWS

We want to cover everything that's important to you and our news section is divided into several categories. We'll keep you abreast of what's going on in town and village government and let you know how county and state news affects Kings Park school districts and keep you informed about the decisions that are being made that will impact your child's education. We'll stay in touch with police and fire officials and report on crime, accidents and fires in the area. We'll be on top of the business community with profiles and news that affects the local economy. We'll hear from arts organizations and let you know about performances in the area. And if you're a die-hard fan for local sports teams, we'll let you know the score. We'll get opinions from local leaders or anyone with a good point to make. And if you have something you want to sound off about, let us know. Finally, we'll shine a spotlight on volunteers in the area.  You'll see profiles of their extraordinary work and we want to hear from you about your efforts to make the Kings Park even better.

If your wondering where to find the best cup of coffee downtown, or what's the best place to grab a bite to eat in Kings Park on a Tuesday night, you can pose your question to fellow Patch readers in our Q&A section. Patch editors and writers will also be monitoring the Q&A, so if you'e wondering how to get a beach permit, or which highway department to report a pothole to, we're here to help.
