Engineer Plans Submitted for Hightower Homes Cleanup
The owner of Hightower Homes has submitted plans to fix up the two Kings Park buildings in hopes of sparing them from being raized by Smithtown town officials.

Kings Park Kicker Gets NFL Shot
Chris Koepplin’s NFL dream is still alive, and at 27, that’s no small feat.   

The Kings Park resident and St. Anthony’s graduate signed with the Buffalo Bills last Thursday and will compete in training camp with 14-year veteran Rian Lindell for the kicker job.   

State Refuses to Transfer Former Psych Center Lands to Town
New York State park officials have turned down Councilman Robert Creighton’s request to have 55 acres of Nissequogue River State Park land, the former Kings Park Psych Center, transferred to the town for future recreational use. 

Kings Park Fire Department Snuffs Out Laundromat Fire
A fire broke out in a laundromat on Main Street on Sunday but was quickly knocked down by responding fire departments. 

Kings Park Fire Department Assistant Chief Dan Guilfoil, said a fire started inside one of the dryers at in the rear of the building, located at 75 Main Street. The fire went through the ventilation system, getting into the ceiling and caused some damage to the rear of the store.

Democrat Smithtown Sup Candidate Shares His Vision for Town
Nesconset resident Steven Snair announced last week he will be running as the Democratic candidate for Town of Smithtown supervisor in November. A political newcomer, Snair faces stiff competition in his first campaign for office from incumbent Republican Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and his challenger Robert Creighton. 
 
Snair, 31, is a Kings Park native who graduated from Kings Park High School in 1999. He went on to study at LIU Post before receiving his law degree from Widener University. Since then, Snair opened his own practice of Smithtown Main Street focusing on foreclosure, landlord-tenant disputes and other matters. 

Kings Park Woman Airlifted After Spray Paint Can Explosion
A spray paint can that accidentally fell onto a hot stove, causing a small explosion, sent a Kings Park woman to the hospital, according to police.

4 Candidates Vie For 2 Board of Ed Spots
Two incumbents, a newcomer and a former Kings Park Board of Education president will be on the ballot for the May 21 board of education election.

Incumbents Tom Locascio and Liz Barrett, whose terms expire June 30, will run for re-election. Charles Gardner, a former Kings Park Board of Education trustee who sat on the board for eleven years, nine as president, along with Pam DeFord have filed petitions at the district administration office to run for election.
