Week in Review: Arrest For Cell Tower Tampering, New Restaurant for KP

A roundup of the week's headlines.

In case you missed it, here is what happened this week in Kings Park.

 1. 

Ronald Derisi, 68, was arested on Dec. 1 and charged with second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree tampering.

About a dozen or so residents addressed the board with concerns ranging from taxes to government-subsidized housing. The planned development, on Indian Head Road, just south of Superior Ice Rink will have 36 one and two-bedroom garden apartment units.

Sombrero’s, a Tex-Mex dining spot offering sit down service as well as take out, is slated to open mid to late January of 2012 and is the latest venture for local Mike Franchi, owner of Dixie’s Smokehouse and Andersen’s Deli. The restaurant will take a space left vacant by Happy Days in Tanzi Plaza.

 4.  

The Suffolk County Industrial/Commercial Incentive Plan provides a tax exemption for businesses that build or make improvements to their property that total at least $50,000. The tax exemption would be based on the assessment of the property's tax value after improvements are complete.

 5.
