Board of Education

The Kings Park Board of Education will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the high school. The board will vote on whether to adopt the 2013-14 school budget.

KPY General Meeting

12th Annual Chinese Auction & Food Tasting

St. Johnland Nursing Center’s its 12th Annual Chinese Auction and Restaurant Food Tasting fundraiser at the center in Kings Park!   Over80 large theme baskets and silent auction items filled with items for all ages and interests.

New York Author Michael Kannengieser to Sign Copies of His New Book The Daddy Rock at Barnes & Noble at the Smith Haven Mall for their Local Authors Night.

Art Exhibition

Exhibition juror James Henry Rubin’s exhibit call for entries noted that reflection be either a physical or a psychological phenomenon. Together they evoke the interplay between perception and conception. He selected 42 artists for the exhibition, which will include 68 artworks in a wide variety of media including watercolor, oil, charcoal, bronze, archival prints, mixed media sculpture and more.

Children In Change

Children in Change focuses on youth with changing family dynamics. This could include divorce, parents in jail, drug and alcohol dependencies, remarriage, homelessness, etc. The target audience is middle school students.

“We want a safe place where children can express themselves and find they're not the only ones going through change in their family,” stated Lindsay Sommeso, the Community Relations Specialist and co-leader of the new program. She and Rebecca Maier, a second semester Stonybrook Graduate Student, will be holding the program in the Community Room of the Horizons building located at 161 E. Main Street, Smithtown on Mondays for one-hour long sessions. Participants should use the community room entrance in the back of the building. Monday, 4 p.m.


Stroller Strides at Sunken Meadow

Stroller Strides is not just a walk in the park for Long Island moms with strollers! It is a mommy and me fitness class. Each class consists of a one-hour workout complete with walking intervals, body toning and strengthening components using the stroller, exercise tubing, and the environment. Tuesday, 10 a.m. Sunken Meadow State Park.
