Nor'easter Prompts Closing of State Parks

State parks across Long Island close once again due to severe weather conditions in the region.

 

State Parks across Long Island will be closed for the second time in just over a week due to dangerous weather conditions.

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said parks will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to the  approaching nor'easter.

Officials closed parks across the region last Tuesday after Hurricane Sandy's fury destroyed boardwalks, beaches and roadways leading to many area parks.


The following Long Island State Parks are closed:

  • Bayard Cutting Arboretum
  • Belmont Lake State Park
  • Bethpage State Park
  • Brentwood State Park
  • Brookhaven State Park
  • Caleb Smith State Park Preserve
  • Camp Hero State Park
  • Captree State Park
  • Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
  • Cold Spring Harbor State Park
  • Connetquot River State Park Preserve
  • Gilgo State Park
  • Sunken Meadow State Park
  • Heckscher State Park
  • Hempstead Lake State Park
  • Hither Hills State Park
  • Hither Woods State Park
  • Jones Beach State Park
  • Montauk Downs State Park
  • Montauk Point State Park Napeague State Park
  • Nissequogue River State Park
  • Orient Beach State Park
  • Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
  • Robert Moses State Park
  • Sag Harbor State Park
  • Shadmoor State Park
  • Trailview State Park
  • Valley Stream State Park
  • Walt Whitman Birthplace

Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
