New Pedestrian Signs, Again, For Main Street

Signs to be more permanent than previous two that disappeared.

Two new pedestrian crossing signs will replace two signs that recently disappeared from Main Street.

According to councilman Bob Creighton, the Town of Smithtown has received two more signs that are awaiting installment pending an order for a specific type of drill bit needed to mount them.

“We have the signs in. They are slightly different and more permanent,” says Creighton.

He expects the signs will be installed within the next two weeks. One sign, by Carlson Avenue will move slightly to make it easier for trucks to get in and out.

 Residents had requested the signs to slow traffic and make it easier for pedestrians to cross.
