Kings Park Psych Documentary to Be Shown In Huntington

Filmmaker Lucy Winer to host screening, panel discussion to follow.

If you missed Lucy Winer's powerful documentary film, , at the make sure to head over to Huntington next month.

Winer, a once suicidal teenager who was committed to the Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital is now a veteran documentary filmmaker who was committed in 1967 to the hospital’s female violent ward. Winer documents not only her journey back to the now shuttered facility but also meets with former patients, their families and hospital staff. The film takes an in-depth look at the mental health system today as well as a look back on the treatment of the illness in years past. A trailer of the movie can be seen on the movie's Facebook page.

Winer, along with other members of the movie, will host a panel discussion following the screening, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
