On September 10, 2013, we, as Republicans, have the opportunity to vote in our local party primary. The primary election is supremely important because as a predominantly Republican town the primary is likely to be the election that decides who will be elected as our supervisor and town board officials.

This is a unique time in the history of our great town and this election is extremely important as a result. Decisions will be made over the next several years regarding infrastructure improvements, the future of certain vacant or derelict property, and changes to the zoning regulations. If our town is lead by effective leaders we can take a path that leads to greatness, a path that leads to rebuilding our town to new heights. If we choose ineffective leaders our town is doomed for mediocrity.

Our community is strong. We are a proud group of people who have a strong love for our town. But we have clearly slipped behind other surrounding towns with respect to business development, infrastructure improvements and vision for the future. Our leaders have been miserably deficient in new ideas. They have not improved our downtown areas. Our leaders have been meek when other leaders have been bold. We need effective leaders to change that course.

The Committee for Effective Government is made up of Smithtown residents interested in electing effective leaders. We are your neighbors. We care about our community. We know you care too.
