The Suffolk Y JCC in Commack will be home to a winter farmers market beginning Jan. 6 and running until March 31.
Regional producers will offer fresh products including vegetables, herbs, fruits, honey, jams, baked goods and cheeses among other products.
“The Suffolk Y JCC is excited to host the Winter Farmer’s Market,” said Alan Freedman, Associate Executive Director of the Suffolk Y JCC. “We feel that partnering with Friends & Farmers Inc. will help us to better serve our community by providing access to fresh, local produce to eat healthier.”
This is the first time a winter farmers market will be offered in Commack. Neighboring towns such as Kings Park host a farmers market, which begins in early summer and ends in late fall.
“We are so happy to be at the Suffolk Y JCC for this winter market, said Bernadette Martin, Director Friends & Farmers.
"As the New Year begins, we are hoping to help those in the community who have resolved to eat healthier in 2013. We are also excited to reconnect with supporters of the Kings Park and Nesconset Farmers Markets while we look forward to making new friends in Commack who share our love of local food. ”
