Readers’ Choice: Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Kings Park

Go green and celebrate all things Irish this week. But where to toast the holiday?

It's time to get our Irish on, Kings Park. St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 and we’re green with envy at all the ways to celebrate.

Hopefully you've recovered from the parade and are putting your plans together for Saturday.

Time to weigh in. Kings Park Patch is looking to unearth the best spot in town to celebrate Dublin-style. Readers’ Choice is a new feature where we’re asking you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

We’ll list our nominees – this week it’s where to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – and ask for your vote in the ultimate St. Paddy's Day poll. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Friday we’ll announce a winner.

Let me know: I've been told over the years that "Paddy" is demeaning to the Irish culture....makes you look like "shanty Irish" (if you know what I mean).....and I'm FBI (Mom and Dad had us here ....not in Eire) so I'm not so liberal (BTW: FBI:- Foreign Born Irish)

At home with a great group of friends and family, Ham and cabbage dinner with homemade soda bread and weather permitting a nice fire. Ham and Cabbage is a real Irish meal, but cornedbeef will do you just fine.

At home with a German irish Italian family. I Italian decent, Vi of German Irish and who makes the best corned beef and cabbage learned from her mom God bless her. The bar is at home with a bit of Smithwick. Bars are not for me did not go to them. if I went with friends it was at a lounge. One of the local authentic "pub" I went to was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I drank the pint" (and my wife's too was too much for her) , and enjoyed the fish and chips

@ Linda, a nice hickory smoked ham and Linda you boil the ham not bake it. After the ham has cooked remove it and cook the cabbage in the water you cooked the ham in. The flavor of the ham and cabbage together will be outstanding. Enjoy........

MOTHERGOOSE Shanahan's...is there any question? Room to breathe on a sunny, 70 degree day, with abundant seating outside. The Firepit. Awesome corned beef and cabbage (Willie's most famous). Mrs. Shanahan's inimitable soda bread. The lovely little steppers, stepping out at a venue where there's room to dance. Jeff and the Moonshine Boys playing at 7pm. Kiss me blarney arse. in Kings Park, where can you get your Irish on in any better way?

Celtic has Irish Step Dancers, Bagpipers, free hats, shirts and stuff they give to the customers and they have the best bartenders. Last year they had free catered corned beef buffet. I haven't missed a year there yet. Katie and Meredith are amazing. Celtic has my vote.

Shanahan's makes the best corned beef. All you can eat. The best Irish Soda bread I have ever tasted. Not to mention a great staff serving you. You don't get a better feel for St Patricks Day having the Bartender Paul who is from Dublin asking what he can get you. Have a great ST Patricks Day Kings Park I will be enjoying the festivities at Shanahans
