Chamber: No Kings Park Restaurant Week

Lack of funding and mild interest cited as reasons.

A lack of funding and interest has put the kibosh on this year’s restaurant week in Kings Park.

According to Charlie Garnder, president of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce,

“Restaurants said they got a lukewarm response during the promotion,” said Gardner. “We were going to try a joint week with Smithtown, but there was no interest from our restaurant owners.” Gardner also said the grant money for the week also fell through.

Jack Hessel, chamber vice president, said most restaurants were not interested,

“It just didn’t go over,” said Hessel. “We didn’t see the return on ads with the money that was spent.”

Hessel said that though they won’t be doing it this year, the chamber would be open to next year.
