Summer Job Is A Swelter At The Bluff

You would think keeping cool at the Kings Park Bluff is easy, right? Not when your day at by the water is spent in a booth that is about the size of a shed.

“We like the view, but dislike the sun!” said Karyn Carlson, who along with Alana Esposito, spend the day checking for resident stickers as they enter the parking lot of the bluff.

“There is a lack of entertainment, but we can’t complain,” said Carlson.

It is a summer job for both. Carlson is a nursing student at Adelphi and Esposito, a student at James Madison, is also a nursing student. The only relief they get is from two fans inside the booth and an occassional rain storm, which happened as we spoke.

Do they ever jump in the water to cool off?

“No,” said Esposito, “we are not allowed.”
