Spotlight Event: Ranny Reeve Jazz Festival

Festival takes on new name to honor a Kings Park legend.

If Friday night's Jazz Festival is anything like last year's, it is sure to bring some heat on a cool winter's night.

This year, the festival, which is in its sixth year, has been renamed the Ranny Reeve Jazz Festival, the jazz composer and teacher who went from living room to living room in Kings Park teaching music.

Hosted by the Kings Park Heritage Museum, in honor of Black History Month, the event is truly not one to be missed.Featured acts include Vinnie Loccisano and Gary Pickard, Ranny Reeve's Jazz Jam Group, and Jazz in the Living Room. The evening usually ends with musicians and members on stage in an informal jam. The show, which is free, begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at RJO Middle School.
