FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When: Smithtown Library; Wednesday, 2 p.m.
Why Go: Ages 4 and 5 are a magical time in a child's life, when their imaginations begin to develop and anything is possible. Let their creativity run wild with books of all sorts.
Pricing: Free

Where/When: Wednesday; 12:30-2:30 p.m., 4-6 p.m.
Why Go: Because as tempting as it is to ice skate on your pool/a frozen puddle/Lake Ronkonkoma, that's not safe. Hitting the ice at Superior Ice Skating Rink, however, is safe and fun.

Where/When: Caleb Smith State Park Preserve; Thursday, 10 a.m.
Why Go: Parent and child get to explore nature as a team. What better way to learn about nature than to get your hands dirty--literally.
Pricing: Call

Where/When: Smithtown Center For The Performing Arts; Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7 p.m.
Why Go: Hearing "Be Our Guest" from an old VHS tape can get boring after a while. But seeing the company at the Smithtown Center For The Performing Arts will breathe new life into it and all the other songs from this Disney classic.
Pricing: $15 per ticket

Where/When: John W. Engeman Theater; Saturday, Sunday, 11 a.m.
Why Go: See the classic story of Rapunzel, the girl with long hair, live on stage.
