First Grader Hoping To Cook Up A $50,000 School Cafeteria Makeover

6-year-old Dana Menier is hoping her cooking brings her school some serious prize money; a $50,000 makeover for

The contest, sponsored by Uncle Ben's Rice, challenges kids to create a recipe using their rice and video themselves preparing it in the kitchen.

"We entered the contest because Dana loves to help me in the kitchen" said mom Diane Menier, "but we never made a whole meal together.  I thought it would be fun and she did a great job."

The Menier family also stands a chance to win $20,000 and a a guest appearance on the Rachel Ray Show.

Dana said if she wins the contest, she would like to see healthier meals made in a new school cafeteria kitchen.

"I think it would be great to have a new kitchen so the kids could have more choices of food served. With the budget being so tight, this might give back money to all the schools in our district in the long run," said Diane.
