2011 Dennis Cannataro Family Summer Concert Series Begins

began on Thursday evening at the Branch Shopping Plaza in Smithtown. Cannataro passed away last March, and the concert was renamed in his memory by his sister, Lynne C. Norwick, Suffolk County Legislator.

Over 500 residents of Smithtown and neighboring towns gathered in the parking lot with lawn chairs and blankets. Big Shot- Billy Joel Tribute Band, was the first band to start the series.

 Nowick began the concert was a few words of remembrance for her brother, and how the concert series came to fruition.

"Dennis came to me eight years ago, and he said that he wanted to do a concert series in Smithtown, and I remember saying to him, 'where are we going to do that?'  He said, 'we'll make it work'.  As you can see, we've made it work for the past eight years, and this is all thanks to Dennis," said Nowick.

The series, which happens on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. run until August.
