Two Kings Park homes are getting a second breathe of life under new construction.
Smithtown Councilman Thomas McCarthy announced construction is underway to shore up and improve Hightower Homes, at 75 and 81 Main Street in Kings Park, during Tuesday's morning work session.
Smithtown Building Director John Bongino reported to the town board that he met with property owner Jeffery Brown and contractors.
"The concrete and debris has been removed from both locations," McCarthy said.
Councilman Bob Creighton also said he had recently seen heavy equipment on the site.
It is estimated construction of both homes will be completed in 45 to 70 days, according to McCarthy.
Hightower Homes were officially deemed unsafe by the town board earlier this year and seemed destined for a date with a wrecking ball until Brown stepped forward as the property's new owner in January.
