Kings Park Native Honored by Former Student

St. Anthony's graduate now at Cornell recognizes former teacher.

A Kings Park native was recognized by her former student for playing a significant role in her academic career.

Lana Miller, a St. Anthony's graduate now at Cornell University, was selected for its Merrill Presidential Scholars Program. The program formally and publicly honors Cornell University's most outstanding seniors prior to their graduation and  teachers who played a significant role in their education.

Miller chose to recognize Philomena Clement, a Kings Park native , as an influential educator. Clement was one of only two teachers in New York to be selected for the honor.

A scholarship will be given in Clement's name to a deserving student at Cornell at the start of the next year.

Clement is expected to retire after more than 35 years teaching at St. Anthony's High School this June.
