The Week Ahead: Walking Group at Sunken Meadow, Free Art Class for Kids

Here's a look at what's happening in and around Kings Park this week.

A Time for Kids
This Mommy & Me Tiny Tot Discovery Program is offered by the Smithtown Recreation Department as a first developmental step towards preschool and/or nursery school readiness. 

One-hour classes are offered on Monday or Wednesday mornings in July and August, one day a week for four consecutive weeks per session, at the Smithtown Landing Country Club.

Sunken Meadow Walking Group
They say those that have an exercising partner have better success in sticking with their program. If you are interested in stretching your legs, a walking group has formed. Join them on Thursday evening at 6:15 p.m. at the Sunken Meadow Boardwalk. Parking is free after 4 p.m.

Free Art Class
Abrakadoodle will be running a day of free classes on Wednesday. Class will be held at New Beginnings Early Start Center in Kings Park.

DDI Employment Open House
Developmental Disabilities Institute, on Hollywood Drive in Smithtown, is hosting an Employment Open House on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Grand Re-Opening of the Richard H. Handley Collection of Long Island Americana
The evening’s program will include an overview of the collection’s history and also an opportunity to view some of the collection’s most remarkable highlights. Smithtown Town Historian, Brad Harris will be the featured speaker. Wednesday, 7 p.m.


Sts. Philip & James Family Festival
Rides, games prizes and festival foods can all be found at the family festival. Thursday, 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
