Dollar Tree is a national sponsor of Operation Homefront and will be collecting supplies through Aug. 6.

Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to military families and Wounded Warriors, has announced its annual Back-to-School Brigade program to collect school supplies for military kids.Sa

Across the nation, Operation Homefront, and its organizations and volunteers will begin collecting donated school supplies, along with monetary donations, that they will distribute to the children of service members at the beginning of the school year in the fall.

Dollar Tree, a national sponsor of Operation Homefront, will be a collection point for back to school supplies for military children from July 9 to Aug. 6. The nearest is at 5014 Jericho Turnpike in Commack.

“Our military neighbors do so much for us that we are honored to give back in this small way," said Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree spokesperson.

This year marks the sixth annual campaign by Operation Homefront to give the children of military families the opportunity to start school with all the supplies they need to be successful. Anyone interested in helping military kids can go to the website by clicking here  or check them out on Facebook to learn more about how to volunteer or make a donation.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
