Local Photog Sweeps First in Park Photo Contest

Frank Mercuri grabs the best group shot.

 Park clean ups take a group effort and local a photographer captured the moment with a group shot that won him first place in a photo contest held throughout parks in New York State.

The top shot was taken by Frank Mercuri during “I Love My Park Day” events last month, an annual event held in New York State Parks to promote clean-up and beautification.

The more than 70 volunteers included groups from a variety of community organizations including; Kings Park Youth, Boy Scout Troop 539, Hauppauge High School and Cub Scout Pack 379 along with park personnel.

In addition to their hard work in cleaning up the park they helped repair the playground area to make it safer for children.

Mercuri is a member of the board of directors for the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation and a founding member of the Kings Park Photography Club.
