“This was a club effort, along with my dear friend Kevin Denis of Professors,” Nichol continued. “When it comes to our military and what they do everyday to keep us safe, we are passionate and anything we can do to help, we will.”

It’s for this passion for the military that Kevin Denis received an American Legion Appreciation Award from Donald C. Munro Post #944 of Kings Park during Thursday’s event.

“About two months ago I offered to help them with anything they need,” explained Denis. “Well, a couple of days later, during their community night, their stove broke. They came over and used my kitchen and their event was successful.”

According to Denis, Thursday’s fundraiser wasn’t without its own glitch: The generator the live band was going to use broke down.

“I thought about who I could call,” said Denis, “and I remembered. I made a call and he lent us his generator.”

Summing up the evening, Ella Claney, events coordinator for the charity said, “We were so excited that the East To West Car Club and Professors Diner chose to include Hope For The Warriors, while honoring our nation’s heroes. It was a great evening and the support from the Long Island community was overwhelming.”
