Detour No More; Landing Avenue Bridge Reopens Friday

Work will continue, but bridge will remain open to traffic.

Smithtown and Kings Park residents who have been finding alternate routes for nearly a month due to the closure of the Landing Avenue Bridge can kick off their weekend with what should be a less trafficked commute.

Lori Baldassare, Government Liaison Officer for the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, confirmed Thursday that the department was on track to have the bridge open by Friday afternoon.

A three-month, $80,000 rehabilitation project on the bridge began on July 24, starting with a three-week closure to all traffic as workers poured a new concrete deck.

Work will continue on the bridge, but will remain open to traffic.
