Varsity Scoreboard: Boys Soccer Routs Rocky Point, Football Falls in Shootout

A recap of the week in sports.

Football: Kings Park's frantic fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short on Saturday, as they lost to Bellport, 49-40. Dominic Montemurro had touchdown runs of 29, 25 and 8 and Joe Guercio threw for three touchdowns of his own, but it wasn't enough to get past the Clippers, who had two touchdowns on special teams returns of 80 yards.

The Kingsmen will host Eastport/South Manor on October 1 at 2:00.

Boys Soccer: The Kingsmen , this week in their first League V contest. Ryan Finnin got Kings Park (3-1) on the board just 94 seconds into the game, and the onslaught was on. Andrew Mayrick capped off the scoring with just over 27 minutes left to play in the second half.

Girls Soccer: The girls soccer team went 2-1 in a busy week of games this weekend as they too opened up their League V schedule. After blowing past Eastport-South Manor on the strength of four goals by senior captain Katherine Corcoran, the Lady Kingsmen dropped a game at Huntington, 3-1. They bounced back with another strong victory, posting a 5-0 drubbing of Bellport on Saturday. Five different players, including Corcoran, scored for Kings Park.
