Girls Winter Track Takes County Title

Kayla Koelbel takes first in the long jump, the 55 hurdles, and the triple jump.

 

The Kings Park girls winter track team defeated Miller Place Monday evening to take the county title, their third straight and the fourth in the last five years.

According to a report on Newsday, Miller Place took an early 28-10 lead. Kayla Koelbel helped spur the team to a comeback win by jumping a 17-3/4 on her third attempt at the trials. Her jump was seven inches farther than Bayport-Bluepoint's Baily Walker who jumped a 16-53/4.

earned at the State Qualifiers in July and was ranked 8th in New York State.
