Girls Volleyball Takes Suffolk County Class A Title

Team will take on South Side at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Carle Place

The girls of Kings Park volleyball have done it again.

The team took the Suffolk County Class A title Monday defeating Bellport 25-14, 25-21, 25-12 in front of a full house at Kings Park High School.

“It was really exciting, we played the quarter, semi and final in four days, so it was back to back,” said head coach, Lizz Manly. “It was tough because we had a bout a week off and nowhere to practice. Finally we had a good four to five practices before the game. We had to practice like it was the county finals because we had no time in between.”

Joelle Goldstein and Amanda Gannon led the team in kills. “The two were unstoppable,” said Manly. “Bellport could not handle their hitting.”

The back to back win was unbelievable to the girls, said Manly who added she is excited that the same team will have the chance to take the team all the way again.

“Setter Kendall Corcoran, she runs the offense, such a great leader of the team. Senior Tara Trapani played great,” said Manly.

Tuesday evening the team will take on Nassau County champs South Side and if victorious, will head to the state championships, which begin Saturday.

“Last year we came in third out of four,” said Manly. The girls are really hungry. They feel like it is unfinished business. I feel we are talented enough and can win.”
