Student Spotlight: KP High School Senior Elizabeth Schneider

Recipient of $1,000 Young Woman Leader Community Service Grant.

A take-charge approach and a willingness to speak out have helped Elizabeth Schneider to earn the 2011 Shapiro-McCormick Young Woman Leader Award.

The award, presented to Schneider by the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls, recognizes students that have demonstrated leadership qualities and an awareness of the challenges associated with promoting gender equality.

“Elizabeth is a true leader and advocate for women’s rights and equality. She hopes to change the world by speaking out for those who can’t or won’t speak up for themselves,” said Lino Bracco, principal of Kings Park High School in a recent statement.
