Why Didn't You Vote in the 2013 School Budget Election?

A little more than 16 percent of the population turned out.

Last Tuesday, voters approved the 2013-2014 Kings Park School District budget, a decision that directly affects the education of the community's children and the tax bills of thousands of homeowners and hundreds of businesses across town.

But with such an important decision on the line, why did a little more than than 16 percent of the community turn out to vote?

In the spirit of understanding what drives the community we cover and the issues that affect civic participation in town, we'd love to hear from people who missed or skipped out on the vote.

At the same time, we invite everyone to discuss why voter turnout is so low for school elections.

See our Infogr.am chart above for a breakdown of this year's votes.
