KP High School Students Selected For VFW Scholarship Program

Two students will compete in program called Voice of Democracy.

Kings Park High School students Timothy Colvin and Thomas Cilla have been selected by local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5796 to compete in their scholarship program.

The program, called the Voice of Democracy, established in 1947, challenges students to compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on a patriotic theme-this year's theme was "Is There Pride Serving in Our Military?"

Each year more than 50,000 high school students compete for more than $2.3 million in scholarships and incentives. One winner for every 15 entries from each post advances to district and then one winner will advance to the New York State Competition
