Teacher Contract Negotiation Details on Agenda for Board of Ed Meeting

A presentation will be given at the Tuesday evening board of education meeting on a fact-finding report regarding teacher contract negotiations.

Results from a fact-finding report completed by a third party to help with teacher contract negotiations are expected to be discussed at Tuesday evening's board of education meeting.

Fact-finding is a non-binding procedure in the negotiation process where a third party comes in to help both sides reach an agreement. The Kings Park Classroom Teachers Association has been without a contract since June of 2011. The presentation will be done by John Gross of Ingerman Smith, the firm that provides counsel for the school.

According to district superintendent, Susan Agruso,

“We cannot comment on why it was rejected, because it is negotiations, which are subject to confidentiality. When it is public, counsel will go over the report publicly," said Agruso in July.

Jim Pappas, president of the Kings Park Classroom Teachers Association, said back in July, that the report was “somewhere in the middle of what the district has offered and what the union has offered”.

The meeting, which is held at Kings Park High School in room 101, begins Tuesday evening at 7:30.
