Top Honors For Five Kings Park Students

One named as semifinalist for National Merit Scholarship Program.

Five Kings Park High School students were recognized for academic achievments including one who is a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Shannon Wetzler was named a 2011-2012 National Merit semifinalist for achieving high marks on the PSAT/NMSQT exam. Wetzler is part of the less than one percent of seniors who achieve this honor.

Seniors Justin Cirigliano, Katherine Mayer and Eleftherios Mastronikolas received Letters of Commendations by the National Merit Scholarships. The trio are among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million to enter who are recognized for receiving high scores on the 2010 Preliminary PSAT/NMSQT exams.

Joao Eng, a junior, was recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program as an outstanding student and has received the Scholar Award for his academic achievement.

The students were recognized for their achievements at last Tuesday evening's board of education meeting.
