PHOTOS: Wrestlers Shave Heads to Support Mom Diagnosed With Leukemia

Mattituck High School wrestling students pack into Love Lane barbershop for crew cuts to support their teammate’s mother, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Mattituck High School junior Bobby Becker's mother, Sue Becker, recently lost all of her hair due to treatment for leukemia.

This week, Bobby's teammates on the wrestling team decided that they would shave their heads in support for his mom. The whole team, about 30 guys, packed into the Love Lane Haircutters Wednesday at 5 p.m. after closing time.

And stylist Sandy Lazar played army barber, cranking out the crewcuts for the kids — many of whom had never had their hair that short before.

"I think I might have had it this short when I was 4 years old," said Bobby. "I like it though. Maybe now I can cut some weight. And it feels cool too."

I agree with Dr. Alward- these boys are kind and compassionate beyond their years. Situations like this make me so incredibly proud to be from the North Fork!
