Next Year's School Calendar Set for Kings Park

Kings Park students will head back to school on Sept. 3.

School will start on Sept. 3 for students in the Kings Park school district.

The Kings Park Board of Education voted to adopt the 2013-14 calendar at the Tuesday evening board meeting. School will end on June 26. Students will have attend school two days for the first week and have off Sept. 5 and 6 due to the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

If school is closed for inclement weather or other emergencies school will be is session in the following order: May 27, May 23, April 23, April 22, April 21, March 19.

If several emergency closing days are used before Nov, 27 and/or the Feb. and or Spring recess, the Board of Education may use Nov. 27 and/or the Feb. recess and/or Spring recess as make-up days. If March 19 is an emergency make-up day, Superintendent’s Conference Day will be scheduled for June 27.

Make-up days were on the minds of administrators when the calendar was devised. The district lost a total of six days this school year due to Hurricane Sandy plus a snow day due to the Feb. blizzard.

A copy of the entire school calendar can be seen in the photo gallery section of this story.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
