Kings Park Students Advance to Quiz Show Semi-Final Round

Kings Park will face East Islip on Monday.

Kings Park High School will be featured as one of the final pairings in the Long Island Suffolk County Regional Semi-Finals of MSG Varsity’s quiz show “The Challenge”.

“The action is intensifying as we get down to the final pairings in the Long Island Suffolk County Regional Semi-Finals of “The Challenge”,” said Theresa Chillianis, MSG Varsity’s General Manager.

“The excitement of the competition is really mounting as exemplified by the support the teams are receiving from their schools and communities.”

The Kings Park High School team is represented by Michael Adams, Joseph Gargiulo, Katie Mayer and Eric Parigoris.

"There is a strgatgy to this," said said team advisor Robert Celeste, who teaches social studies at the high school. "Its not just pushing the controller and answering a question, they do practice a lot."

The team beat Longwood in the quarter-final round 320 to 220.

"We tried to go to the categories we knew about," said Parigoris.

Celeste said the team puts in hours of practice. They take it seriously, but have  good time with it.

"We played very well that day, very proud," said Celeste. "These games can go either way, don’t know what the categories will be. We prepare for any type of scenario."

Kings Park will face East Islip High School on Monday at 6:30 p.m., on Cablevision’s Optimum, Channel 14.
